Nicki Minaj 'endorses' Mitt Romney, Rapper Nicki Minaj recently contributed to a single that is making headlines everywhere. In the song, “Mercy,” Minaj delivers lyrics that seem to be in clear support of presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The single appears on “Dedication 4,” a mixtape by Lil Wayne. No one is sure whether or not to take the endorsement seriously.

“I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney,” Minaj sings. “You lazy b**ches is f**king up the economy.”

It is worth noting that immediately after these lines, she adds that she's chilling with a zombie in Malibu. Some feel that Minaj is employing sarcasm, others think it could be a marketing scheme, but still others feel that the views are legitimate.
Trey Walker of Prattville, Alabama said, “Her fans would never vote for Romney, she is just telling it like it is... Liberals are mostly lazy! She won't sell more records for that comment, in fact... it may sell less because of that verse!”

Spin offers an explanation that makes a lot more sense, and applauds Minaj for clever use of metaphor. “She's doing the thing rappers do where they ... contrive the weirdest, wildest ways to say some pretty basic stuff like, "I got more money than you do, and I don't give a fuck." ... What's missing in that line is the word "like," (“I'm like a Republican voting for Mitt Romney”), which is often removed from rap poetics because it creates more distance between the person delivering the line and the person hearing it, and without it, reality and fiction are blurred.”
