Trevor Gretzky Runs Baseball Option, But What About Trey (Smith)?, Gretzky drops back, looks for his receiver ... yeah, that doesn't sound quite right to us either.

Trevor Gretzky, quarterback for Oaks Christian High School and son of The Great One, has decided to forgo a college football career and follow in the footsteps of Stephen Strasburg ... and by that we don't necessarily mean he'll be married before his 22nd birthday. He'll by playing baseball under the tutelage of HOF'er Tony Gwynn at San Diego State University. T-Gretz had listed interest in top flight football programs such as FSU and Alabama, but in the end, the prospect of a College World Series championship trumped a shot at a BCS title.

Gretzky's decision comes one year after former teammate Nick Montana, son of Joe Montana, signed with Washington to eventually fill the void left at quarterback when Jake Locker declares for the NFL. That leaves us with Trey Smith, wide receiver and son of Will Smith, as the only Oaks Christian celebrity child not to declare his future plans. So Trey, what do you plan on doing after high school ends?

You don't have to answer right now Trey, but let us tell you what we are thinking. We always envision Montana, Gretzky, and Smith in a reboot of the classic cartoon Pro Stars. You know, the 1991 cartoon starring Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, and Bo Jackson as athletes who fight crime, help children, and protect the environment. Think "Men in Black," but with bats and balls.

We already have a descendant of the original cast with Gretzky and someone's got to out-do brother Jaden, star of The Karate Kid redux, as well as his sister Willow (of recent "Whip My Hair" fame). As for Montana, do you really wanna follow in Locker's footsteps? Those are pretty big shoes to fill. Plus, being a superhero is way more fun than being sacked by 300-pound dudes.
